Did you know?

Wales is the English name for the country, with the Anglo Saxon meaning of ‘foreigner’ or ‘outsider’. The Welsh name for the country, however, ‘Cymru’ means ‘friends’.

About the Tour

“Welcome to Wales” is our suggested introductory holiday to our beautiful, welcoming homeland. It is an 8 day/7 night holiday to South Wales, staying in top class hotels. showing you much of what Wales has to offer, without having to do too much travelling.

It covers most of the places and things of interest and is perfect for getting to know the towns, cities and countryside of this part of the country.

Day by Day Itinerary

“WELCOME TO Wales”  Tour

Day 1 – Fly from your home country to Wales.

Day 2 – Arrive Cardiff Wales Airport where after completing arrival formalities, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in a village close to the city of  Cardiff. The remainder of the day free at leisure. O/n at your hotel.    (L,D)

Day 3 – After an early breakfast, sightseeing tour of Cardiff, including a visit to the fairytale castle of Castell Coch, on a wooded hillside outside the city. Then lunch (own cost) at Cardiff Bay, where you can visit “The Senedd” ( Wales ‘parliament’’ building), then on to the city centre to visit Cardiff Castle and with some time for shopping. Return to your hotel to overnight. (B,D)

Day 4 – After an early breakfast, you will board your coach and continue your journey, stopping en-route at St Fagans Museum of Welsh life & heritage where various buildings from Wales’ past have been painstakingly restored. In the afternoon, a short journey to your country house hotel to overnight.  (B,D)

Day 5 – Travel today to the coastal city of Swansea, including a short drive around the panoramic Swansea Bay, visiting Mumbles and Oystermouth.  The afternoon is free at leisure – you can take a stroll on the white sand beach, or, walk into the city centre to the 12th century castle ruins & Central Market – until dinner is served at your hotel. O/n at hotel. (B,D)

Day 6 – Morning drive to the picturesque fishing village of Laugharne, where the famous poet & author Dylan Thomas lived and wrote many of his most famous works.  Laugharne and its inhabitants were the inspiration for Thomas’ most famous play, “Under Milkwood”. Later, drive on to the ancient seaside town of Tenby. On arrival check in to your hotel and meet your guide for your time in Tenby. The remainder of the day is free at leisure for you to enjoy the walled town and harbour. Dinner at your hotel. O/n at hotel. (B,D)

Day 7 – After breakfast there will be a boat ride to the nearby monastic island of Caldey. The day will be spent exploring the island and its monastery, chocolate, fudge and perfume factories before sailing back to Tenby, where you will board your vehicle and drive to Cardiff for dinner at your hotel. O/n at hotel. (B,D)

Day 8 – After an early breakfast (dependant on flight times) you will transfer to the airport for your return flight.  (B)

For the purpose of these tours it has been assumed that flights to and departure from the UK, will be at Cardiff Wales Airport. Arrivals/departures from other airports will necessitate alterations to the itinerary.
